Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 June 2026

Spillion respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

1. What we collect

  • Account details: name, email address and (optionally) phone number.
  • Pro profiles: business name, trades, service areas, bio, photos and verification documents (ID / trade certificate).
  • Activity: job requests, messages, reviews and ratings.
  • Technical data: basic logs needed to run and secure the service.

2. Why we use it

  • To create your account and operate the marketplace.
  • To connect customers and Pros and let them communicate.
  • To verify Pros and display trust signals (reviews, ratings, badges).
  • To keep the platform safe and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To send essential service emails (e.g. sign-in links).

We rely on your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, and our legitimate interests in running a safe service.

3. Who we share it with

When a job request is accepted, the customer and Pro can see each other's name and messages so they can arrange the work. Your verification documents are private and are seen only by our admin team for review — never published. We use trusted processors to run the service (hosting, database, email delivery), who process data on our instructions. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Security & storage

We use access controls and reasonable technical measures to protect your information. Data may be hosted on servers outside South Africa by our processors; we take steps so that such transfers have appropriate protection as required by POPIA.

5. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you may request access to, or correction or deletion of, your personal information, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa). To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Cookies

We use only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We do not use advertising cookies.

8. Contact & Information Officer
